GAME: Rock, Paper, Scissors Chase TYPE: Pursuit and Evade
CYCLE: I, II, III ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
TACTICS: Reaction time, run away or chase, etc.
QEP: Visual signals, helping and communication, position of body and body parts, etc.
DESCRIPTION
Layer 1: Students are paired up and placed one metre apart from each other in the badminton court. Students practice playing Rock, Paper, Scissors. Students put their “shooting hand” behind their back, say Rock, Paper, Scissors SHOOT and on “shoot” show their choice. In order to win, Rock beats Scissors, Paper beats Rock, and Scissors beats Paper.
Layer 2: Chase factor is implemented in the game. For example, if Rock beats Scissors, Rock chases while Scissors runs to their end line of the badminton court. In order to get a point, the winner/chaser must tag the loser/runner before getting to the end line. If the player is not touched, there is no point, and the students return to their starting positions and playing again. After a few minutes of play, teacher rotates the partners.
Layer 3: Knockout Tournament. After students win two of three games, winner moves on to new partner while losers join as cheering squad. The student who wins against every challenger and has every student on their cheering squad is the tournament champion.
MODIFICATIONS:
- Longer distance to end line.
- Different starting position (crouching, sitting, push up, etc).
SAFETY:
- Reinforce the chaser and who chases who when.
- Turn around and run straight, keeping to their lanes.
- Slow down before end line.
- Fair play and sportsmanship.
