DESCRIPTION
Layer 1: T-ball stands, balls and bats are placed at one end of the playing surface, aiming towards the center of the playing surface. The teacher designates students to be the batters and others to be the fielding team. Batters go to their T-ball station and demonstrate grip, distance/stance and eye on the ball to the teacher. On “GO”, students swing and contact the ball towards the center of the playing surface. The fielding team is placed at the other end of the playing surface and catches/collects the balls that are hit towards them. They cannot move until everyone has hit the ball. Batters have three turns to bat before teacher changes them to fielders, and then teacher designates new students to be the batters. Cycle is repeated until everyone has taken a turn.
Layer 2: Students are paired up, given a bat and two balls, and told to find a spot facing a wall. One student is the batter and the other is the tosser. The tosser must stand on one side of the batter, and then toss the ball at waist height. The batter tries to hit the ball by swinging towards the wall. After three completed hits, tosser becomes batter and batter becomes tosser.
