loGAME: Alien Dodgeball TYPE: Special/Invasion
CYCLE: II, III ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate-High
TACTICS: Teamwork, attacking opponents, throwing and catching, evading, etc.
QEP: Cooperation, throwing and receiving an object, moving around space, attacking opponent, etc.
DESCRIPTION
Layer 1: Class is divided in half; one team being the Humans and the other team being the Aliens. Objective of the game is for the Aliens to take over the Earth by destroying all Humans, while the Humans’ objective is to protect to Earth and destroying the invading aliens. Both teams are given a minute to discuss strategies and tactics before play starts. All students are allowed to travel anywhere in the playing surface as long as they remain inside the boundaries. Three balls are put into play. In order to destroy an Alien or a Human, the opponent must throw the ball and hope that the student does not catch it. If the ball hits a student and they do not catch it, they must go to the sideline. In order to be freed, at least two students of the opponent team must be out (1 Human returns when 2 Aliens are on the sidelines; if another goes Alien goes out, another human returns). Students are not allowed to locomote with the ball. The last team standing is the winner.
Layer 2: Students can take three steps. Add another ball. This ball can only be thrown by the girls in the class but can hit anyone.
MODIFICATIONS:
- Different sized balls; shoot between the legs.
- If a student catches the ball from a throw, the opponent that threw it is out.
SAFETY:
- No headshots or high powered shots when close.
- Aware of players and balls coming from all directions.
- No contact or holding other students
