PURSUIT AND EVADE
Pursuit and Evade activities are those that involve students tagging one another and/or running away from each other. These activities can be grouped in situations where everyone is a tagger and where specific individuals are "it".
Although the typical view of tagging games include one or a few students to be designated as "it", not all pursuit and evade activites are this way. Many of these activities provide creative ways of challenging students and working effectively in their space. Some activities require little equipment, while others are littered with bases, obstacles and pathways.
A few examples of games that have every student as taggers are Everyone Is It Frozen Tag and Flag Tag. There can also be activities that incorporate tagging teams. These examples include Giants, Wizards and Elves or Crows and Cranes, where to sides are pitted against each other. Lastly, activities like Rock Paper Scissors Chase and Triangle Tag involve students against a partner or partners in their group.
As it is shown, Pursuit and Evade activities are varied in the way they can be played. These activities are relatively easy to get students involved and moving about in the class. Please choose the activities that you would like to try with your students.
