GAME: Musical Robots TYPE: Foundational Movement
CYCLE: I, II ACTIVITY LEVEL: Low
TACTICS: Using and moving around space, experimentation, etc.
QEP: Locomotor skills, position of body, support, concept of time, speed and distance, etc.
DESCRIPTION
Layer 1: Students are told to spread out, find their own space away from everyone else and demonstrate ways of locomoting around the playing surface.
Layer 2: Teacher asks students in the class to perform a locomotor movement. The class then has to reproduce (if capable) the locomotor patten. Teacher may shout directions that students have to travel such as forward, backward, sideways, etc.
Layer 3: Teacher incorporates a drum. Students must move around playing surface and avoid others as they move according to the locomotor beat being produced; walking, running, skipping, sliding, etc. Teacher increases and decreases tempo so that students move quicker or slower around the space.
MODIFICATIONS:
- Confine or open playing surface.
- Make students walk along lines or in patterns.
SAFETY:
- Head scanning and avoiding others.
- Appropriate amount of speed for space.
- Stay away from walls.
