GAME: Balloon Bop TYPE: Cooperative/Team Building
CYCLE: II, III ACTIVITY LEVEL: Low-Moderate
TACTICS: Communication, teamwork, formation, passing, etc.
QEP: Passing and receiving object to teammates, helping, types of movements, etc.
DESCRIPTION
Layer 1: Each student is given a balloon and asked to find ways of keeping it in the air without any locomotion. At first students are standing, but then are asked to sit on the floor and do the same. If the balloon touches the floor, the student picks up the balloon and continues.
Layer 2: After students have found ways of keeping it in the air, students are paired up with another student. Student must share one balloon and must alternatively keep the balloon up in the air. Students are then allowed to locomote and have to keep the balloon up in the air. As this becomes too easy, students must keep two balloons up in the air. If any balloon drops to the floor, they must pick it up and continue.
Layer 3: The class is now divided into 4 groups. The objective is to keep up all of the teams balloons and prevent them from touching the floor. If they touch the floor, they can no longer be used. At the end of the game, the team with more balloons in the air wins.
MODIFICATIONS:
- Coloured balloons associated with different teams
- Using or not using different body parts (hands, feet, head, chest, etc)
SAFETY:
- Aware of others when hitting the balloon
- Soft touches; no popping of balloons
